My recent stay at The Langham, Shanghai, Xintiandi, was one of the most memorable trips I've had lately. As someone who's stayed in countless hotels, both domestically and internationally, for business and leisure, I truly understand that while 'hardware can be similar, service is what truly makes the difference.' The 27th-floor team at The Langham, especially Zoe, Judy, Ella, and Loretta, made me experience firsthand what 'true home-away-from-home' really means!
Always Smiling, Gentle Yet Firm Approachability
The moment I stepped out of the elevator, I was greeted by their constant smiles. That gentle yet firm approachability instantly put me at ease after a long journey. Unlike rigid or perfunctory politeness, their smiles were genuine and natural, as if they could melt away all the fatigue of travel. Even late at night or during busy morning hours, they maintained the same positive and gentle demeanor, showing no signs of tiredness.
Anticipating Guests' Needs Before They Even Ask
What impressed me most was their ability to accurately anticipate my needs before I even had to ask. Zoe meticulously introduced all the hotel facilities, current promotions, and dining times, and was always responsive and accommodating. Judy, despite being busy, specifically waited in my room to help me change my evening gown. That 'one step ahead' keen insight astonished me; it showed their incredible attention to and grasp of guest needs.
Professional Yet Warm
In the 27th-floor team, I witnessed true 'professionalism with warmth.' They were adept at all hotel procedures: whether it was booking, late check-out, or using facilities, they handled everything swiftly and efficiently. Yet, their communication was always gentle and respectful, never making you feel pressured. They knew when to offer help but never intruded on guests' private space. This 'just right' sense of proportion is precisely the most precious quality of a five-star hotel.
Team Synergy and Infectious Atmosphere
Top-notch service isn't just about individual efforts; it's a reflection of the entire 27th-floor team's seamless collaboration. No matter who I interacted with, they could quickly understand my needs and efficiently follow up. That team synergy conveyed the excellent standard of hotel management.
The True Meaning of Feeling at Home
Many people talk about 'feeling at home,' but it wasn't until I experienced Zoe, Judy, Ella, and Loretta's service on the 27th floor at The Langham that I truly understood the weight of those words. They didn't just fulfill their duties; they treated every guest as a friend worth caring for. Whether for work or travel, I would wholeheartedly choose The Langham again and again, because it's not just a place to rest, but a home where my mind can relax and feel warmly enveloped.

"Special thanks to Lynn, Vivian, Minnie, and Lily for their excellent service. In the evenings, they'd ask if we wanted turndown service, and at noon, if we needed laundry done. The overall service is truly outstanding. I especially loved the breakfast; it had a great variety and tasted delicious. This is my second trip to Shanghai in two months, and both times I've chosen the Pudong Shangri-La. The location is super convenient, very close to the metro station, and near Super Brand Mall and IFC. It's perfect for both shopping and dining."

"We wish to compliment Ms Jessica for her helpfulness on our first day arrival at the hotel. She helped us to solve our air ticket problem by calling the airline. During our four day stay, housekeepers and breakfast restaurant staff doing their job that make our stay uneventful. Satisfying our needs. On our check out day, 6 Nov.. Front desk Ms Susan and Ms Lumy helped us with our luggages to the first floor. We like to say a big thank you to you all. Will stay there again if I visit Shanghai again."

"This is a truly amazing hotel that offers a comfortable and pleasant experience! First off: the 5-star service is impeccable, with attentive and incredibly friendly staff. Their professional service made me feel right at home and left a deep impression. Check-in at the front desk was efficient and quick, allowing me to get to my room and relax without delay.
Lobby: The 5-star hotel's signature scent is very refreshing, and the furnishings are upscale.
Room is fantastic: The design is simple yet stylish, with a well-thought-out layout and comfortable furniture placement. It looks soft during the day and is just as good at night.
Location: It's a 5-minute walk from Exit 1 of Beixinjing Station on Line 2. For getting around the city, using a map is still more convenient.
The meticulous service, comfortable bedding, and thoughtful amenities make this my top choice for business trips and leisure travel."

"Initially our choice of hotel was pearl hotel, however we decided to change our hotel to dorsett. This is a gem location for a Muslim family/travellers to look into. The hotel is just located next to the metro and family mart (directly back door access) also walking distance up to 3 halal food found! Refer to photo for reference (we only manage to dine in two halal food nearby hotel). We booked a deluxe Parkview room for the bathtub choice, however photo in trip.com even after I made a call prior to the hotel it has a bathtub but during check in there isn't. Long story short, reception offered an upgrade to the studio room which is bigger in size and bathtub for kiddos! Appreciate the swift response! This hotel offered 24/7 laundry + dryer services FOC! 😉"

"The front desk service was excellent! The location is superb, just across the street from Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street and very close to the Bund. This trip, I brought my family and booked three rooms, including a suite for my parents. The view from the suite's window was great, overlooking Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street and even a glimpse of the 'three-piece suit' (referring to the iconic Lujiazui skyline)! The room facilities were good, and we received complimentary welcome fruit upon check-in. Breakfast was decent too! Overall, it was a very pleasant stay!"

"The hotel is in a very convenient position and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The room is a bit small but clean. The room smells when we checked in but the smell disappeared after opening the window to let the fresh air come in. The toilet and bathroom are exactly next to each other and it smells a bit moody. I lost one of the room access card and the staff said that’s ok. They also provided lots of bottled drinking water every day. Generally speaking, it’s a good experience."

"Overall, I was very satisfied! Everything was excellent. The hotel boasts French-style architecture, and the room decor was grand and impressive. I specifically requested a west-facing room, which overlooked the Middle Ring Road and offered distant views of Suzhou Creek. The noodle restaurant on the second floor was fantastic, and the breakfast spread was generous – the rice noodle soup was an absolute standout! The ambiance was also wonderful.
The only minor drawback was the lack of smooth coordination between the parking management and the hotel's concierge. The process to validate the parking ticket was a bit slow, which caused a slight delay. I hope this can be improved."

"This hotel has some strong positives, but one critical negative ruined my stay.
The Good: The breakfast is fantastic—delicious and high quality. Also, the floor manager who assisted me on my second night was professional and empathetic, doing everything in his power to find a solution.
The Bad: The air conditioning on the 8th floor is broken. It was fixed at 28°C in heating mode for my entire stay from Nov 25-27. This made the room unlivably hot, and despite the staff's best efforts (they provided a fan and tried to find another room), I endured two very uncomfortable nights.
Until the hotel fixes the central AC system on that floor, I would be cautious about staying here."

"This hotel boasts very new decor and facilities, so there's nothing to worry about – just book it! Its proximity to the exhibition center and Hongqiao is a definite plus. As for the downsides, being street-facing combined with poorly soundproofed interior doors, thin walls, and floors amplifies all ambient noise. Even the slightest sound from the hallway is easily picked up, a common issue in modern buildings. The mattress is moderately soft, which might not be ideal for those who have trouble sleeping in unfamiliar beds. Although they kindly upgraded me to a room with a window for free, it actually exposed me to more city light pollution. All in all, if IHG continues to offer promotional rates, this is still a highly recommended hotel for concert-going 'special forces' visiting Shanghai for a night or two!"

GGuest UserFrom the moment we arrived, the experience at this hotel was nothing short of amazing. One of the staff specially took us to explore the different types of room so we can decide which room type to take which we really appreciate!! The location is so accessible!!We can reach the main tourist attractions like Xintiandi, Yuyuan and Nanjing road within 10 mins by their cab Didi and costs less than USD$3 only and the pick up and drop off point is just in front of the hotel which is so easy for us!!They even offer free popcorn and drinks and amenities like travel sunblock cream, soap, floss, body cream throughout our stay!!All of the staff were exceptionally warm, attentive, and professional — always greeting us with genuine smiles and going out of their way to make sure we were comfortable such as helping us to book ******* delivery and helping us to collect our taobao parcels.
Our room was spotless clean, beautifully maintained, and thoughtfully prepared such as the toilet seat with a warm function. Every detail, from the amenities to the housekeeping, reflected the hotel’s high standards and care for guests.
Special mention to the front desk team— their friendliness and helpful recommendations truly made our stay even more enjoyable.

MMccaBWe made a one-night stop here on our 10-day trip, after exploring Hangzhou and Suzhou - and we were revisiting, having already enjoyed four lovely nights here earlier. GGuest UserThe room was more spacious than I'd imagined, and the view from the window was quite nice, with Jing'an Temple visible in the distance. The walk-through area in the room was just wide enough to open a suitcase, leaving little extra space, but it was perfectly fine for a solo trip.
Soundproofing in the room wasn't great; noises from outside the door were quite clear (though this is a common drawback of hostels). This might be an issue for light sleepers.
Transportation is incredibly convenient, as it's only about a three-minute walk from the subway station, which really helps save on travel expenses.
**Cleanliness:** The shared bathrooms were exceptionally clean; an attendant would clean them immediately after each use, which was very reassuring.
**Service:** Upon arrival, a staff member showed me to my room and introduced the facilities. The lobby offered quite a few amenities; I recall there was an ice machine, and I even borrowed an umbrella from the front desk when it rained during my stay.
Overall, I was very satisfied and would happily choose to stay here again on my next visit to Shanghai.

GGuest UserVery nice hotel with good friendly staff. They offer free delivery and help to store your Taobao packages. The free breakfast every morning is very delicious with various cuisine selections.
The location is very convenient too. Right in the city center and easy to call didi as well as metro which is right across. The bicycles are parked right in front as well so you can rent them.
Free water and snacks are given everyday too. Will definitely recommend this place if you were to stay in Shanghai.

KKimcpyNice modern hotel located in the French Concession area, easy to get rental bikes around the corner and roads have bike lanes for easy riding. This area is full of great cafes and bars. Hotel staff are friendly and pick up drive way up front is easy for DiDi cars to pull up. Overall a good stay and recommended for couples or group of friends 👍

BBoluomamizhenniWe chose The Ritz-Carlton to celebrate our tenth wedding anniversary and were thoroughly impressed with everything. Although the hotel is a bit older, the facilities are very well maintained. We booked a Pearl Room, and the front desk assigned us a fantastic room with a direct view of the Oriental Pearl Tower – it was incredible to see it so up close! The location is also superb, right in the heart of Lujiazui, with convenient access to IFC for dining and shopping downstairs. The soundproofing in the room was excellent, ensuring a wonderfully peaceful night's sleep.
Upon checking in, we mentioned it was our anniversary. Later that evening, we found a lovely small setup in our room, along with a complimentary cake and champagne – a very thoughtful gesture! A special thank you to Jessi from Guest Services for taking such great care of our child, even preparing drawing paper and kid's amenities. After dinner, our child enjoyed a swim in the pool, while we adults relaxed with drinks at Flair in the evening.
Furthermore, while the breakfast didn't offer the widest variety I've ever seen, it was by far the most exquisite. They even peeled and sliced pomelo and oranges for you – who does that?! You absolutely must try the potstickers; they're so juicy! There was a foreign female manager who was constantly attending to guests during breakfast, proactively asking about the food and helping clear plates. All the staff had smiles on their faces – I truly loved it!

OOlivia_yijuanThe front desk service here was really welcoming, and the hotel environment itself was great, very clean, with a lovely fragrance wafting through the hallways. The bed was super comfortable, making for a very pleasant stay.
The hotel's location is incredibly convenient. There's a subway station right nearby, and downstairs is a bustling shopping street with tons of malls. Even though it's a commercial area, the mix of international architectural styles gives it a unique vibe. I spent an entire afternoon wandering among these buildings, feeling like I was traveling through different times and dimensions. It was like experiencing multiple worlds in one afternoon.
From there, it was just a few minutes' walk to the Bund, connecting with the Oriental Pearl Tower. Even in the heart of the city, I felt a refreshing sense of being bathed in a forest, perhaps because of the evening breeze, the Huangpu River, or the iconic Oriental Pearl itself. Anyway, I was so pleased with the journey this hotel enabled.
When I got tired, it was just a few minutes back to the hotel to rest before heading out for some night sightseeing. So, staying at this hotel was a surprisingly rewarding experience.

GGuest UserI stayed at Guisu Hotel in Caishouli. It is a newly fixed-up old Shanghai Shikumen house. The room was very nice and clean. The kitchen and bathroom were useful and had a washing machine. There was also a small yard. It was easy to walk to the subway station and to Huaihai Road for shopping. It is a quiet place in the busy city. If you want to try a real Shanghai Shikumen style house, staying here is much better and cheaper than a hotel. The front door has a code lock. I did everything myself from check-in to leaving. No one bothered me. I liked it a lot.
